ABOUT THE MAKER: I'm Alexis Smith, the owner and creator behind 80 Smith Jewelry. This business was launched in June of 2015 after a quarter-life crisis forced me to make my own path (I know, cliche millennial). I started with stamping pet tags, took a few silversmithing classes at the local community art center & studied even more by watching hours of youtube tutorials & silversmithing forums on Facebook... and voila you have the beautiful pieces found on this site.
ABOUT THE NAME: 80 Smith Jewelry comes from my own initials of AD (Alexis Diane) that often sounds like "80". And, yes my real (married) last name is Smith, so it all came together as the name for my business.
ABOUT THE STYLE: Traditional methods of silversmithing borrowed from the Southwest Native Americans are used to make my pieces. The design walks the line between my personal love for all things bohemian, yet my struggle to be minimal. This is represented in simple-shaped copper hair pins all the way to turquoise statement rings, with the beauty in the dichotomy.
ABOUT THE PROCESS: Each piece is made with tools & my two hands in my home studio. I put care into sourcing the materials, using solid sterling silver (with brass and copper accents) and buy my stones from American miners and lapidary artists wherever possible. The classic combination of turquoise and silver is my go-to, but I also love to use nature's variety of stones & metals in my work.
ABOUT ORDERS: Please let me know if you have any custom requests or orders, I am more than happy to do everything I can to make you the perfect piece. If you are interested in bulk or wholesale orders, please email
me and I'd love to talk more with you.
